Fred Shadows & The King
Fred Shadows, ob·liv·i·ous to reality in a world filled with fiction. This September 11th, 2023, I brought back from the deep archival mind of my creativity a cartoon character I invented over 50 years ago. The Union Foraged-capped Fred Shadow may very well be my alter ego, who, when he first appeared on drawing paper in the early 70s, was partly inspired by Sad Sack, an American comic strip and comic book character created by Sgt. George Baker during World War II. British comic strip Andy Capp, created by cartoonist Reg Smythe, as seen in the Daily Mirror and the Sunday Mirror newspapers since 1957, and the wartime Kilroy was here, graffiti created by unknown.
