Tuva or bust 2022-06-25 = 19 Quantum Creativity, no footprints but mine

* Quantum mechanics makes absolutely no sense. Roger Penrose

* It is safe to say that nobody understands quantum mechanics. Richard Feynman.

July 25, 2021, Tuva or bust, Violet King Henry plaza, Alberta Legislature grounds.

2015-06-25 Painter's notes, Abstract Mountain & Selfie after my painting at the Alberta Legislature - Sorry if I look a bit full of myself these days but I'm very pleased with myself and my work ethic this week - I've surpassed my goal so anything more I do for the rest of this week will be added bonus. I have lots of canvas! 95 % completed "Mountain above Maligne Lake"

I have walked
along life's shores
to see what others
have overlooked.

My spirit
I'm rewarded
by the beauty
I see

For now
I have seen
what no other
has seen.

It's true
after noticing
no footprints
by the sea
but my own
I've become one
with nature,
a mix with
my surroundings

quantum in
a universe
at being
here alone.

In physics, a quantum is the minimum amount of any physical entity involved in an interaction.

2022-06-25/ 19 Painter's notes: I'm entering a new phase in my world of creativity or perhaps I've always been there/ or maybe I'm leaving it. That's Quantum Mechanics for you. For now, I'll just call it Quantum Creativity and see where it takes me...

2016-06-25, Painter's notes, Fire and Rain art project: "Beautiful but very intimidating" was what one woman said of my paintings leaning up against the Old strathcona farmers market, during today's 49th outdoor art show and tell featuring my Fire and Rain art project on Alberta wildfires and floods from the rain. I walked 5 K to the Old Strathcona farmers market and found a great selection of spots to set up my art as most of the fair-weathered buskers and street preachers stayed home from this drizzly Saturday morning. As soon as I set up my art show the sunshine came out.

Quantum mechanics makes absolutely no sense but I'm entering into that rabbit hole to see where it takes me, my art in a world of creativity... did that just make sense? The photo was taken a block after Pete and I had this interesting conversation about synchronicity and living in the moment.... do you think I can walk through this wall or am I already on the other side?

Painter's notes on Laws, The Seven Sisters Matariki & Serenity's Law

2022-06-23, Painter's notes: Another sunshine/ overcast day painting on the Alberta legislature grounds by Eastgate, preparing a Jasper park mountain scene, positioning a jasper trolley car on the tracks with dark reds, and finally a little fun painting an abstract coiling snake. The day started by busing over to the Paint Spot in Old Strathcona/ breakfast to go at A&W, return bus trip downtown, the Legislature grounds. 'Flags at half-mast?' Serenity's 12th birthday on the front steps, grocery shopping... then home. There are laws in effect that governed my day from start to finish.

The laws that Governments enact and the laws of nature and synchronicity. I try to abide by both laws based on the third law of faith that comes from the voice within my heart. Faith, do good, be humble I tell myself each day and sometimes I pray and give thanks to myself with the Serenity Prayer. Self-taught, mountain painting influence Lawren Harris of the Group of Seven.
Today June 23, 2022, would have been Serenity's 12th birthday. Thank you UCP (Hon) Mike Ellis for your private member's bill Serenity's law.
Our friend Marie from down under shared with me today that in New Zealand, for the first time, they have a new holiday to celebrate the arrival of the cluster of stars, Matariki, the Maori name for the Pleiades, or The Seven Sisters, into our skies, and the Maori New Year. She says "I believe the same cluster is recognized by a different name in some other countries. It is the first time in the world that an indigenous holiday has been taken, so quite an event."
Matariki is a special occasion in the New Zealand calendar that marks the start of the Māori New Year. Signified by the Matariki cluster of stars reappearing in our night sky, this is a time to reflect on the past year, celebrate the present, and plan for the year ahead.

1993, Two Indigenous girls on a rock

Gift of Art to Janet Blonde, with a message on the painter's frame from Mel Hurtig.

I started expressing my creative self as a kid with a box of crayons on my parents' basement walls and inside the pages of my grandfather's leather-bound encyclopedia collection. So my parents began to supply me with a steady stream of paper and pencils with which to draw and expand my creativity. In secondary school, I studied commercial art and printing and took extra courses to learn photography and produce short video features. In my twenties I learned to fly, earning a private pilot's license, and moved to Edmonton from Toronto. In my 40s I hiked the West Coast Trail on Vancouver Island 3 times and once to the Rose Spit on Haida Gwaii Island. Living in Edmonton I continued a career as a graphic arts craftsman operating mostly Goss high-speed web offset newspaper printing presses, first for the Edmonton and Toronto Suns and finally with the Edmonton Journal (Video). I volunteered at Walterdale Community Theatre, painting sets and doing public relations. I was laid off from my newspaper job in 2013 after 42 years and attempted to start a business Hawkeyi Media Inc with a grant from Alberta Works. It failed after losses, so I retired I now work freely as a social artist and citizen news activist now in my 15th year.

2022-06-21 National Indigenous Peoples Day. After spending some quality time with my wife Sarah on summer solstice day, enjoying the river valley trails and what would be my last day with my indigenous drum. I used the drum to raise awareness over the past 3 years, on various issues relating to Aboriginal Veterans, Murdered and Missing Indigenous women and girls, and residential schools.
I would play the drum, sometimes sing, and dance in circles at various Edmonton locations such as the Alberta Legislature grounds, in front of City Hall, and the Art Gallery of Alberta. I once drummed for 2 weeks in front of the Federal Building next to the Alberta Legislature in protest of an ATM machine plugged into the floor inches away from the Indigenous Red Dress. The Government removed the ATM elsewhere.

Today on the trail I soon met the former Alberta Liberal leader Dr. Raj Sherman and I immediately knew in my heart it was time to pass my drum on to the good doctor for his public service in office. I told Raj that maybe one day he too might pass this drum on to someone most deserving who would make good use of the indigenous drum.
