We as artists must be careful not to fall prey to another form of colonization, for we are one of the most powerful voices of our people.... We must make our own work on our own terms" J.S.

2021-06-21: Artist, teacher, & friend Chief-No-Tribe shared with me his art downtown Edmonton & how his family was affected, by Canada's residential school system. I completed my own art show inside Violet King Henry plaza on the Alberta Legislature grounds, featuring my #ShameTheMan with love totems. My totem collection was inspired by my sketch studies of the Professional Native Indian Artists INC. Group of Seven, once featured inside the Art Gallery of Alberta. Chief-no-tribe and I exchanged gifts today. He gave me the book he's carried around for years that inspired his circles versus squares conversation we had along the banks of the North Saskatchewan River, 2016. Titled 'Black Elk Speaks Being the life story of a Holy Man of the Oglala Sioux, as told by John G. Neihardt (flaming rainbow). I gave my teacher a key chain I had carried around for years attached to my backpack filled with paints and brushes. It had a broken compass with the words 'Life is a journey ...'

Art is made for people to react. Having a position means what you are doing is needed and it is creating change. In the long term, a lot of people are going to appreciate it.-Venezuelan woman, Alberta Legislature art show.

'Sketch studies strengthen my confidence'
July 2, 2020, last year on this day, when the Art Gallery of Alberta briely opened its doors to the public, I did this 50-minute sketch study, and later altered it using Corel draw. I'll title Flower Power. Inspired by First Nations artists Bruno Canadien and Niki Little's combined installation titled GIFT.

2021-07-24 ALBERTA POLITICS: Personally I don't agree with my friend, Justice Minister and Solicitor General, (Hon) Kaycee Madu's idea of pepper spray being legalized as self-defense. I may change my mind after I survey Albertans and follow this up during the fall sitting inside the Alberta Legislature for citizen #Freepress.
